Saturday 14 December we rounded up the year for Beginners and Intermediate with a Christmas themed team tournament playing for prizes in various kinds of Christmas goodies.
The 5 teams, with fixed players on board 1, 2 and 3 were:
- Jingle Bells: Maximilien, Kevin and Fiona 5.5
- Reindeers: Jay, Alex and Gauri 6.5
- Hohoho: Ray, James and Chris 7.5
- Elves: Wo Hang, Suneh and Saga 6
- Candy Canes: Mei Jing, Hyung Jun and a rotation guest player 7
Christmas Blitz
After 4 rounds of 10 minutes blitz chess, in the spirit of Christmas without the rule applied of winning by illegal moves, Hohoho ended 1st with 7.5 points and could go to the prize table first. Candy Canes ended 2nd with 7 points followed by Reindeers with 6.5, Elves with 6 and Jingle Bells with 5.5 points.
In the Advanced group we played the 5th round of the competition to close the year 2013 with the following results:
- Wilson – Max: 1-0
- Samira – Miguel Angel: 0-1
- Mei Jing – Aravind: 0-1
- James – David: 0-1
